During the Seventies, Abet reached out across the ocean and was the main backer of the New York Museum of Modern Art’s exhibit on Italian design. Abet also created Stratificato, a self-supporting phenolic panel used for wall systems, toilet partitions, shower stalls, furniture and lockers.

In the Eighties, Abet gave birth to Alchimia and Memphis, two of the most revolutionary cultural movements it has ever participated in. These movements, coordinated by Architect Ettore Sottasass, pronounced the importance of Italian and international design and became an important instrument for the promotion of “Made in Italy” all over the globe. And in 1987, Abet’s innovative translucent laminate “Diafos” won the “Compasso d’oro”, the most sought-after Italian award for design.

The nineties led to the collaboration, once again, with Ettore Sottsass and his selections for the new Solid Colors series. Abet also won the European Design Award, a prestigious prize that emphasized its successful research/relationship between technology and design.

The new millennium committed Abet to the research of high quality, innovative techniques and more refined and sought-after new products. In 2001 ABET LAMINATI, together with Ferrari, received its second “Compasso d’oro”, this time as a career award.

ABET LAMINATI continues to dedicate itself to research, design and customer satisfaction. The company just achieved certification for ISO 9001 – the International Standard for a Quality Management System which meets customer satisfaction. It also has a Greenguard certification for low VOC emissions. Today, tomorrow, and throughout the next fifty years, Abet will strive to meet customer needs in a timely and professional manner, as well as deliver the best design and technology available to high pressure decorative laminate.

ABET LAMINATI,  a leading producer of High Pressure Decorative Laminates, manufacturers over 700 different laminates and reaches the international market via 89 countries including the USA.  Since its inception in Italy in the 1950’s, ABET has made leaps and bounds in the design and technological worlds.  In the Sixties, instead of being content with producing the standard white and imitation wood laminates for kitchens, the company shocked the market with its strong colors.  These colors brought new life to the product and to kitchens across the globe.  After creating an identity of its own, ABET went one step further and developed Straticolor, then Diafos (the first translucent laminate with 3-D decoration), and Tefor (the first entirely recycled laminate).  Changing the identity of laminates meant letting them travel from the kitchen to the living room, to luxury furnishings and of course, commercial use.  In the Eighties, ABET developed MEG, an exterior laminate which can be applied to outdoor structures.

Over the years ABET LAMINATI has been no stranger to design.  The early 80’s
saw the birth of Alchimia and then Memphis, a creative group which produced the ultimate in furniture design.  ABET supported this movement, which initiated a tremendous effect on design and on the tastes of that decade.  Architect Ettore Sottsass, who has a long time working relationship with ABET and Memphis, concentrated on the sensorial nature of  things, the dense colors and vibrant patterns.  His imagination also enhanced ABET’s newly expanded Metalli line which uses light and reflections rather han actual pigments of color.  According to Sottsass, laminates, like industrial products, will always be updated.  ABET LAMINATI upholds this theory and continues to place research and design at the top of its priorities. ABET also produces laminate flooring, an interior wall system and exterior wall panels. All laminates are Greenguard certified and have low VOC emissions. Products are stocked in several warehouses in North America.
